whAT IS A NURSE COACH?
What is Holistic NursinG?
Holistic Nursing is comprehensive and focuses on physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual factors. As nurses we are taught to view our patients as a whole system that is greater than the sum of its parts.
A nursing approach where healing the whole person is prioritized and honors relationship centered care, where the patient/client connects with themself, others, nature, and spirituality. It focuses on promoting health and wellness, by incorporating Lifestyle Medicine.
Lifestyle Medicine emphasizes promoting and maintaining healthy behaviors that allow the body to prevent, treat, and many times reverse chronic disease. It uses evidence-based nutrition, stress management and exercise to promote healthy changes, where patients are active partners in their healthcare. It also treats the underlying lifestyle causes of disease where the provider educates, guides, and supports patients to make behavioral changes. These changes include optimal nutrition, increase physical activity, stress reduction, risk reduction of substance use, better sleep quality, and increased social connectivity.
“Our food should be our medicine and our medicine should be our food.” ~ Hippocrates
